The initiative
What The Nisa Project Is
The Nisa Project is a youth-led initiative dedicated to UN Sustainable Development Goal 5.2 — the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls. We are not a service provider or a crisis line; we are an awareness, education and advocacy platform built by young people who believe prevention starts with knowledge.
Our work translates a global target into language, resources and campaigns that ordinary people can act on: explainers that make policy readable, workshops that build confidence, and community projects that bring neighbours into the conversation.
Everything we do rests on four core values — education, safety, dignity and justice. They shape the topics we choose, the tone we use and the partnerships we accept.
Education

Meet the Founder
Rafia Qayyum — Founder, social entrepreneur and youth advocate
Rafia Qayyum founded The Nisa Project out of a simple conviction: young people should not have to wait for permission to work on the problems that shape their lives. As a social entrepreneur and youth advocate, she has spent her time building spaces where difficult topics can be discussed openly, respectfully and without shame.
Her vision for The Nisa Project is a network of informed, confident young advocates in every community — people who understand SDG 5.2, can explain it in their own words, and know how to turn that understanding into practical local action. She started the project because awareness, when it is honest and sustained, is the earliest and most powerful form of prevention.

To educate, empower and elevate communities so that violence against women and girls becomes unacceptable everywhere — by making SDG 5.2 understandable, actionable and impossible to ignore.
